In addition to being a discount marine store, Sports & Marine Parafunalia is a one-of-a-kind water sports specialty store, selling everything from swimwear,  water shoes and wetsuits to masks, fins & snorkels, inflatable boats, towable tubes and rafts. A place uniquely designed for people who will be swimming in the water or boating on the water, we carry the state’s largest selection of waterskis, wakeboards, kneeboards, wetsuits, life vests and discount marine accessories, including cleaners, waxes, anchors, fenders, and dock lines – everything boating enthusiasts will need.

Our huge selection of kayaks for one and two people by  Perception and Heritage, and three and five man pedal boats contribute to the diverse selection of items for summer fun.

Rental kayaks, pedal boats, waterskis, wakeboards, and kneeboards are also available.  Or, take advantage of the “Try it and Buy it” policy.  Rent a waterski, wakeboard, kneeboard, kayak or paddleboat and if you decide to buy it after, then apply the rental price toward the purchase price.  Subject to availability.

“Demo Days” are organized throughout the summer for those who want to give  wakeboarding and kayaking a try.  Demo Days are free and offer hands-on assistance from well trained staff and manufacturers’ representatives.  Call for details. 

By way of history, Sports & Marine Parafunalia is a family-run enterprise founded in 1972, begun as a Western Auto store originally located on Main Street in Meredith.  In 1975, having outgrown that space, the store was moved to the Meredith Shopping Center.  At that time the merchandise was gradually changed each year until our major focus became  all about the water.  

Our current location on Route 11-B in Gilford (also known as 44 Weirs Road, Gilford) was established in 1985. 

In 2004, the Meredith store closed its doors and the business was consolidated into the Gilford location only.

We are open seven days a week April 1st through  December 31st and concentrate solely on watersports recreation, swimwear and sportswear.

Sports & Marine Parafunalia’s  selection is unmatched elsewhere in the state for watersports equipment, selling more wetsuits and waterskis  in the Lakes Region than everyone else combined. 

What began as a small shop selling washers and dryers and automotive parts eventually evolved into the one of a kind specialty watersports company combined with general sporting goods which we  are today.  Remaining a family business now for more than 28 years, we have continually strived to keep current and meet the desires of the seasonal residents and vacationers who enjoy our spectacular lakes.
